Chapter 9 : Be an NE!mation Ambassador! Competition Blog Post

*Special Chapter

This chapter is going to be a special one as I'm taking part in the N.E.mation Ambassador Competition organised by of course you guessed it, N.E.mation and Dice Studio. So the first step into taking part in this competition, I have to write up a blogpost in my blog saying why I want to be an N.E.mation Ambassador and the organisers at N.E.mation and Dice Studio will shortlist 10 people who they think have the potential! The poster says it all, so, here it goes...

1) I ♥ Singapore

I think this should be quite valid enough. I'm sure you have to love your country in order to be an N.E.mation Ambassador, what's the use of representing Singapore as an N.E.mation Ambassador when you don't even love Singapore? And no, I'm not going to brag that I know everything about Singapore, I'm not going to say I've been to every single place in Singapore. I'm just like an ordinary 16 year old, I could say the furthest I've been from my home, Bukit Panjang, would be Changi Airport? I've still yet to visit Punggol though. I mean the most basic form to show ♥ and respect is basically (for me currently), singing the national anthem everyday in school proudly, reciting the pledge seriously, taking part in the nation's events like National Day, you can either be a volunteer or be a spectator.

(I drew this, I know my drawing isn't that great.)

2) I ♥ Challenges/Competitions

After reading each steps, I found out that each step towards the final one gets harder and harder, which makes it even more thrilling. I've never really faced challenges but I'm more familiar with competitions, let's see, I've taken part in National Youth Business Challenge (Sales Competition for Secondary Schools organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic), I've also taken part in Robofest (Robotics Competition for Secondary Schools), Photography Competitions in Primary School. Although I had never won the top prize out of these competitions, the highest I got was Silver for NYBC. So yeah, I find the whole process and the completion of each step gets higher and higher which is some sort of a challenge for me cause I'm not the type who is able to complete things on time, so if I'm selected to be one of the 10 N.E.mation Ambassadors I'm sure at least that's a start for me to get things completed on each dateline and stuff like that.

3) I ♥ N.E.mation

I've heard about N.E.mation ever since I was in Primary School, and there will always be videos done by people who particiapted in the competition. It always inspires me in a way, gives you that feeling or different perspective of how people potray Singapore in a good way. So this year, since they're having a competition for people to blog about it, and I have a blog, I decided why not. It's a good experience for me to try it out as well.

So basically, that's about it. Well, all the best for me! Hopefulyl I get in :)

Chapter 8 : Prelims and GLEE 3D LIVE MOVIE!

N level Prelims are around the corner, is something to cheer or jeer about? My first paper starts even before National Day... Lately, we've been having a lot of mock test for different subjects except for physics currently. Other then that, almost all the subjects are preparing us for the real exam. Not forgetting to mention, after the N level Prelims, there's still O level Prelims for my English.

Some updates about what happened the past week, ever since Tuesday's Morning Assembly, it's all been about Racial Harmony Day and the different performances coming on stage and putting on a mini concert. I can't believe it totally slipped my mind that Thursday was Racial Harmony Day, geez. Luckily, the day before there were text messages sent to ask people to put on their ethnic costumes, otherwise I would have no idea. So yep, I did go to school in an ethnic costume, well, actually only half an ethnic costume. For those of you who saw me in school, I was not some foreign exchange student from some part of India -.-" I was wearing a Batik Shirt, more of a peranakan/Baba Shirt. And I still remember vividly, after school was Prelim Oral for English, I was nervous at first and I didn't want to go first cause of some "issues" but in the end, going first isn't so bad after all, the examiner is somehow still alert, not really bored yet, energetic. So yeah, going first isn't really a bad thing afterall except for the fact I think I screwed up when I said "Good Morning" instead of "Good Afternoon" at 3.15pm. Haha.

Anyway, is anyone as hyped as me about the Glee 3D Concert Movie coming out on 1st September in Singapore?! How I wish it was 16 September, but it could be if I was living in Italy... Ha... I think it's a good initiative by the producers of Glee to have this Concert Movie since they can't possibly get the whole cast to tour around the world and make a short stop at Singapore and do it Live, at least a 3D Movie would somehow compenstate that.

Chapter 7 : Railway Track Part 1

Recently, I've been to the railway track that lies along the Bukit Timah stretch, and I must say, if you're going there, do remember to get yourself prepared.

  • Wear Sport Shoes or Trekking Shoes
  • Bring a hankerchief/hand towel or plenty of tissue paper to wipe off your sweat
  • A huge bottle of water to quench your thirst that is lost from all that sweat
  • Insect Repellent (If you're the kiasu type that dislike mosquito bites/ant bites.)
  • Last but not least, a friend to help you take pictures or just accompany you to chat along the way.
Here are some pictures that I took recently of the traintracks and the surrounding! (Pictures not dispalyed in order/sequence)

Will upload Part 2 in the next chapter! Enjoy!

Chapter 6 : National Youth Business Challenge & Going Green

In support of going green and being environmental friendly, I will be typing this post entirely in GREEN!

So, most of you should know by now if you follow me on Twitter that I popped by the National Youth Business Challenge that was organised all the way at Compass Point in SengKang.

The embarrassing thing is, I thought it was Causeway Point, so I happily took the 187 Bus to Causeway Point Bus Interchange, then proudly stepped into Causeway Point thinking the event was in the foyer, when I walked into the foyer, the place was under renovation, so I was thinking where would they most likely hold the event since the foyer -which was the largest part of the shopping mall - was undergoing renovation, I literally went and searched throughout the whole of CWP looking for the event and even asked the Customer Service Counter, the lady was like "National Youth what?" By then I decided to call one of my friends till someone told me it was Compass Point, ended up taking a cab to Compass Point, haha, I feel like such an EPIC FAIL.

Didn't get to see the G.O.H though. Feels good to be one of the customers than being the participants, a change is good once in awhile.

West Spring's Booth! They're selling Badges if you didn't know.

Interesting right? You know what's even better? You can customize the badge yourself, you can put your name, draw things, put some random message about saving the earth!

By the time I arrived, they only left the big badges. Basically, there's three different sizes of badges, Small, Medium and Big.

Samples of the different badges they created, one of the popular design was "Angry Bird", I felt that they should have made Angry Bird Badges limited edition and for a higher price, it's not easy to draw them y'know!

One of the designs which I felt was very nice, Thomas and Friends!

So, more about the National Youth Business Challenge, it's a competition hosted by Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of Business and Accountancy, they invite secondary schools all over Singapore to attend their seminar/talk about going eco-friendly and coming up with their own eco-friendly product to sell. After the seminar/talk, the students from various secondary schools will have to come up with a proposal and send it to NAPSOBA (lazy to type the whole thing), they will determine if you make it to the Grand Finals, once you are selected to enter the Grand Finals, you will compete with several other secondary schools to win the Championship and hold the title of the Most Eco-Friendly and Innovative Overall Winner for NYBC 2011, (something like that, I can't really remember the title). Sounds fun right?

Find out more,

West Spring's iBadges Team !

Reached homed, activated my Facebook Account, uploaded the pictures taken for NYBC 2011 on Facebook.

After the award presentation, all the stalls were required to resume selling till 9pm unless they have sold everything. So I stood by the team, trying to get them to go around selling, making use of their time till some guy from another Secondary School came towards me and handed me.....

This newspaper bag, there's something inside it, care to guess?

The oreo wasn't inside, I just put it in.

There was also some string and red food colouring, basically, it's an experiment to test for Fog. Cool right?

Well, before I end this post, I want to share with you guys the new watch I bought! Haha, don't be jealous. BYE!
