Chapter 42 : Titanic Exhibition

Not sure if you know, but there's a Titanic Exhibition going on at Marina Bay Sands' Art Science Museum! Do go over and have a look for yourself (and if you're thinking that Titanic is just about a love story about a guy and a girl, well you're wrong!) It's a rather interesting exhibition, something new from your normal museum exhibitions, it's more interactive in a way I guess, because when you enter the exhibition hall, you get a passenger's card which shows you a name of a passenger who has been on the Titanic and around the end of the exhibition there's a list of passengers who survived Titanic and people who went missing or dead! Just a short post, but filled with pictures!

We wanted to go ice skating, but we knew it was going to be a very costly ice skating experience, so we decided to give it a miss.
 Art Science Museum!

 Candid Picture

 Serious picture.
Bad shot, I lost the sky...

Had dinner at JustAcia at Marina Square after the exhibition.

Mosaic Concert going on, free admission!

Chapter 40 : The American Influence

I realized that I've been hooked on the American Influence. What's the american influence? Their slang, the way they speak, their movies and their television series! Well, most of my friends have the korean influence, japan influence, some even local influence, but I tend to learn more from the Americans. Having to grow up in a family that emphasizes more on the English Language compared to Chinese, I guess that's why I'm better at the former compared to the latter. I'm going to be talking on the American Television Series that I'm currently hooked on and if you're interested, you might want to watch it too!

1. Glee (FOX)

The first on my list has to be glee, if you've known me long enough, you'll know that I love Glee and they're currently on their 7 week hiatus and there's 5 more weeks to go. Glee is a show where you can relate yourself somehow, be it you're in a wheelchair, gay, lesbian, asian, self-centred, diva queen, perfectionist, you can always just somehow find yourself in Glee and be able to relate to it, that's how they capture your interest. Glee is about a group of teenagers in High School who are in the Glee Club and make their way to the National Singing Competition where they go against their enemy, Vocal Adrenaline, along the way, they encounter various kinds of setbacks, difficulties and problems and they'll just have to find a way to pull through it together as a club. It's currently in its 3rd Season.

What's so unique?

- The show Glee is something I can more or less relate to, in terms of their stories or even the experiences that are being shown and the situations the glee students are in. It's like I'm a part of each character and there's something I can relate to that brings a common interest that makes me like the show, other than that, the touching storylines they have that really make you do some soul searching about your own life. Sometimes I wish my life was like Glee. Other than that, it's also a good combination of casts, they have characters that more or less everyone can relate to and to make up for some of the not so unique storylines, they have music.

My Rating : 9/10

2. The Office (NBC)

I've never watched The Office before neither have I seen it on our local television. I was just bored and happened to come across a website that shows a list of American Television Series with ratings and The Office was given a 9/10 rating and I thought this television series had to be unique because I did not know that Steve Carrell was part of the show cause I usually only see him act in movies. I didn't regret watching The Office and getting hooked on it because it was seriously hillarious and I do agree with the rating given but sadly as of last year, Steve Carrell has resigned from taking up another season and the cast will just have to do without him. Basically this show is about how an office operates with a boss like Steve Carrell who is named Michael in the show and all the funny things that can happen in the office such as office romance, pranking co-workers. It's currently in its 8th Season.

What's so unique?

- The Office takes a different approach, they know that there are cameras around the office, so they make it look like we are a part of the show as well, they also do have funny storylines like love rivalry among co-workers, business meetings that go out of the point and a boss who I would love to work for if I had a chance.

My Rating : 8.7/10

3. Modern Family (ABC)

I've just recently started to watch Modern Family after hearing a few good reviews about it and yes I have to agree this is really a good family drama to watch as a family. I also wish that I had a family like this that is accepting of gays, foreigners and weird people. This is the most unqiue and yet complicated family I've ever met but they stll manage to be able to make things look normal and live life as a normal family despite the circumstances, if Singapore were to ever have a family like this, people might take time before they can accept it. It's currently in its 3rd Season.

What's so unqiue?

- This isn't your average family with 3 generations, its a really complicated but yet they are able to make it look so simple and the funny thing is they can still be able to love each other despite the situations and quarrels they have. Basically, instead of just focusing on one family and having the other relatives become guest stars that come and go like the seasons, they put in 3 families at one go and they are all related and somehow their stories manage to overlap or they could just be having a family dinner and everyone is helping out, it's really rare to see shows like this anymore and not to forget the humour they have in the show is also priceless, never regret watching it.

My Rating : 8.9/10

If you have the time to spare, take a break and look out for these television series. It's nothing compared to what we have on our local screens, I guess it's time we do something about it.
Have you found your Influence?
