Chapter 20 : N.E.mation Ambassador Journey Part 2

*Special Chapter

CHAPTERSOFMARCUS GOES BEHIND THE SCENES AND WATCH THE TOP 20 TEAMS TRY OUT ANIMATING!

Students get a brief intro on what they'll be expected to do in the workshop.

One of the Animagine Team members was in-charged of training them, explaining to them that each piece of character they use are like an asset to them.

I felt that the instructor was quite good, he would stop and ask if anyone has any questions.

See anything wrong with this picture?
From far you couldn't really see these trace lines but when you have a closer look, it's visible, so make sure you erase all these trace lines!

Mr Potato Head!

Students are also reminded to make sure that their characters are colourful and not to only just stick to one colour, this is done so to make their characters stand out!

The students were also required to write down a shopping list of things that they will need. Such as the different types of colour paper.

They had only 1 hour to prepare, outline and cut their characters and background before animating.

BUT WAIT!

One of the Animagine Staff came to talk to the Students before they continued their task. He talked about what they're looking for as judges will be around observing them.

Fun Fact: "Wonder why the students are only being taught Stop Motion Animation and 2D Digital Painting? Stop Motion Animation and 2D Digital Painting are being taught to the students because they want to show the similarities and emphasize the importance of layering each piece of character, movement."
While in the other room, the students are being taught 2D Digital Painting, I find it interesting cause I guess this is how most animation start out? Yeah, I've never seen this before but I've done Stop Motion Animation before using clay when I was in Primary School, so I got to learn a new type of animation and I find it totally interesting, wish I could be the one sitting down and trying it out for myself.

Seriousness level there is like 100% for everyone.

Learning about layers.

From the instructor's screen.

I like this very much!

Instructions left by the instructor to remind the students just incase they forgot.

Back to the Stop Motion group, they had about 30 minutes more to finish preparing.

You might be thinking, don't we N.E.mation Ambassador Finalist get any fun out of it too? Well, we got to try our hands at animating something ourselves too! However, due to lack of time we didn't get to go through all the process that other teams went through, we were only required to come up with our own story and character and the background and props will be provided.

My human-like figurine.

The N.E.mation Ambassadors are proud to bring you our Animation Production based on the
Theme : Pollution, Acid Rain

Just to summarise everything, the top 20 teams were not competing at all, they were just attending a workshop to get themselves familiarized with animating through either stop motion or 2D digital painting or even find ways and means to combine both. The juding criteria is not entirely based on what school you go to or how good your school is, it's more towards you working as a team, your storyline, the attitude of the team, stamina, determination, how much you're willing to put in to show that you're really devoted to the competition and if you're reading this now (Friday), tomorrow(Saturday) will be the Top 20 Pitching, where they will present their storyline to the judges and after that at around 4pm, they will annouce who will be in the Top 10 and from there, they will continue in October/November for 3 weeks to animate their 1 minute video. It sounds truly exciting!

Do remember to vote for me!
